The Squirrel (Poem)

Little heart thrumming

Scrambling, climbing then

Still.

Sniffing, searching

For a treasure –

A gift

Skittering, bounding,

Scouting, staring

There.

In a bed of moss, half buried

Treasure

Lying under a tree

Precious

Delicate shell gleaming

Squirrel has found a nut
